Victoria's Secret tempts in more ways than one!

August 25th, 2007 at 02:10 am

I logged onto my VS account today to check my online statement and what to my wondering eyes did appear but a 700 increase in my credit limit. I'm a little over 200 from paying off my account and they have increased my limit from 800 to 1500! I guess they are onto my nefarious plan to pay off all my debts and eschew further charges to any and all credit cards. Fortunately, I have cotton in my ears so that I can no longer be led astray by their siren song. Smile

When you pay off that last $200, you are going to feel awesome! It feels good to zero out a credit card. Much better than the actual act of buying something you don't need.

I totally agree with you. I have managed to pay off a few cards in the past year and keep them paid off and it's the most wonderful feeling! I can only imagine what it will be like to completely pay off all my credit cards and my personal loan and finally be able to increase my savings and start investing! I'm so excited!

    Hi There
Thank you so much for commenting and sharing on my first blog entry.

It's only early days but I fing that this community is pretty inspiring!

You know one thing that sucks? I am young now and would like to dress up and look nice etc etc but I lack the money and means to do so. Wouldn't that suck in an ironic way to wake up OLD and soooo past my youth but be okay in terms of money?

Yes that is the goal, to increase your credit so that you will have more money to spend...glad you did not fall into the trap Smile way to go

I recently paid off all my credit cards (after selling a house) and I have been inundated with offers from the CC companies. Please, oh please, get into debt again, they say! Bah!

To Aussie, you are still VERY young and it doesn't appear that you have any overwhelming debt yet so I think you will do fine. Try putting aside a certain amount of money each month just for your clothing allowance and you can still look nice without paying designer prices if you look around. Yes, it would be ironic but I don't think you should deny yourself so much now so that you will be wealthy when you are old. You still need to enjoy your life so spending a little money today is not going to jeopardize your future unless you spend everything you make and then some. Smile
To Carolina and Amber, I DEFINITELY am on to their tricks now. Once I pay off all my cards, I will keep one and close out the rest. Several months ago, I decided to see just how much I pay in interest each month on all my cards and was shocked to see that almost 300 a month goes to just my interest payments. That was a VERY rude awakening. I decided right then to pay everything off as quickly as possible and NOT charge anything anymore once my Emergency Fund is in place. I'm not following Dave Ramsey EXACTLY to the letter but I'm just sick to death of looking at my debt every month. It's not going to be easy over the next year but it will be done and, hopefully, I will be debt free within two years. At least, I hope that I will be done. Big Grin
